What Women Say About Hillary

with one comment

Sometimes those nonprofit update emails I get can be pretty annoying. Is it just me or does every single MoveOn.org update read the same to you? Sometimes I get to read excellent articles and smart political commentary. It’s rare, but it happens.

I read this excellent article by Robin Morgan, “Goodbye to All That (#2),” about the sorry state of gender politics in this country in regards to Hillary Rodham Clinton’s momentous presidential bid.

The gist of the argument is that there’s latent woman-hating crawling all over the presidential election. Hillary’s straight talk is “bitchy” and Obama’s straight talk is “inspiring.” Hillary gets mad, she’s being too forceful. Obama gets mad, he’s showing leadership.

Is there a hint of sexism in this year’s election? I feel like there’s a problem when people are uncomfortable about the feminist perspective, but I guess that’s a sign of these times.

I should also mention that the ladies of Scores in New York City, a strip club, endorse Hillary. I can’t tell if that’s progress or not.

I write about this hypocrisy as well. It is sickening and Hilary has more hurdles than any other candidate because she is dealing with mysogyny from men AND WOMEN. Great Post!
